Nikon N-STORM - Shutdown and clean up
When you are done imaging, remove your sample from the microscope and place it on a kimwipe or other paper towel as it has microscope oil on the bottom.

Shutdown procedure
- Save your beautiful images and transfer them to your shared drive or flash drive.
- Remove your sample from the stage and clean up the microscope:
- Throw any trash in the trash can.
- Put your stage inserts back on the shelf.
- If you used a TwinCam filter or a DoubleHelix phase mask, remove them from the light path and put them away.
- If you used the 100X or 60X oil objectives, clean the oil from the objective following this video.
- Lower the stage below 1000.
- Exit Nikon Elements and disconnect from your shared drive.
- Open the N-STORM reservation calendar.
- If there is a user within 2 hours of your session, leave the microscope on and proceed to Step 9.
- If the next user is more than 2 hours after your session, proceed to Step 6.
- Turn off the Microscope Power Strip (2).
- Turn off the laser box(es).
- If you used the FRAP/LUN4 lasers, deselect all laser lines on the box (all the buttons should be grey).
- Turn the key(s) on the laser box(es) to the "OFF" position.
- Turn off the switches for the laser boxes and the one labeled "TURN ON!" on the Laser Power Strip (1).
- Then, turn off the Laser Power Strip itself.

Shutdown procedure for environmental chamber
If you used the environmental chamber:
- Change the Oko Controller settings back to 37 ºC and 5% CO2.
- Turn off the Oko Controller (5).
- Leave the Environmental Power Strip on (4).
- Close the CO2 tank valve (top knob only) (6).
- Detach the humidified gas line from the stage insert.
